More information about Rosso Del Conte DOC 3,0 l Doppelmagnum in HK - Tenuta Regaleali
The Rosso Del Conte is a historic cru from Tasca d'Almerita. Ruby red in the glass, the nose reveals aromas of cherry, wild berries and nuts, accompanied by hints of vanilla, cinnamon, tobacco and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, this red from Sicily presents an impressive concentration and elegance, with harmonious tannins and richness and a long, persistent finish.
Vinification of the Rosso del Conte from Tenuta Regaleali
For this red cru, Nero d'Avola (around 50%), Perricone (around 25%) and a smaller proportion of other local red grape varieties, all of which grow on the hillsides of the San Lucio vineyard, are vinified together. The soils are clayey, fine and with a slight proportion of limestone. The manual harvest begins with the Perricone at the end of September and ends with the Nero d'Avola at the end of October. The grapes are then vinified classically in red, fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 18 months in 225-liter French oak barriques.
The Rosso del Conte was produced for the first time in 1970 and was the first wine of its kind to showcase the potential quality and longevity of Sicilian wines. Created by Conte Giuseppe, it expresses the characteristics of the Regaleali winery and is an example of constant evolution. The two main grape varieties, Perricone and Nero d'Avola, were grown in the San Lucio vineyard and became the first cru wine from the Vigna Unica vineyard in Sicily.
The first wines were matured in chestnut barrels until 1987, followed by large barrels made from Slavonian sessile oak and, from 1991, tonneau and barrique from French sessile oak.
Recommendation for the Cru Rosso del Conte from Tenuta Regaleali by Tasca d'Almerita
We recommend drinking this first-class Sicilian red wine at room temperature with hearty dishes with red meat, lamb, game, beef, spicy cheeses, intensely flavored salami and typical Sicilian products. But it is also a delight on its own.
