The Lagrein by Elena Walch appears in the glass with an intense and dense garnet red colour and unfolds its complex bouquet, which captivates with its subtly spicy aromas, with cocoa as well as with wild berries and heart cherries in the background.
A distinctive tannin structure, supple fullness and freshness as well as a juicy, long finish convince on the palate.
Vinification for the Lagrein by Elena Walch
The vineyards are located in Tramin and Caldaro, these areas are characterized by their mild or on the southern side of the Alps very Mediterranean climate. Around 1800 hours of sunshine a year and maximum temperatures of up to 30° Celsius provide the perfect conditions for viticulture.
The traditional mash fermentation of 10 days takes place at a controlled temperature in a steel barrel. This is followed by biological acid degradation and storage in a large French and Slavonian oak barrel.
