The elegant Torrette Superiore from the hand of La Source flows into the glass with a bright ruby red color. On the nose, this La Source red wine reveals all kinds of roses and raspberries. As if that were not already impressive enough, maturation in large wooden casks adds notes of almond.
The La Source Torrette Superiore presents itself to the connoisseur as wonderfully dry. This red wine never appears coarse or austere, but rather round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety, meaty, and dense. The finish of this red wine from the Aosta Valley wine-growing region, more precisely from Valle d'Aosta/Valée d'Aoste DOC, ultimately impresses with a beautiful aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the sand-dominated soils.
Vinification of La Source Torrette Superiore
The basis for the balanced Torrette Superiore from Italy is grapes of the Fumin and Petit Rouge varieties. In the Aosta Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on sandy soils. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 8 months in oak barrels.
Food pairing for La Source Torrette Superiore
This Italian red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15–18°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, boiled veal with beans and tomatoes, or stuffed bell peppers.
