Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana IGT 3,0 l Doppelmagnum 2016 - Marchesi Antinori

The Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana IGT by Marchesi Antinori shines intensely ruby red in the glass. On the nose a complex bouquet unfolds with clear, appealing aromas of red fruit, ripe plums, juicy cherries and berries, framed by spicy notes, vanilla, peppermint and hints of boxwood. Soft, velvety tannins, harmonious texture inspire on the palate and close in a long, tasty finale.

Vinification of Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana by Marchesi Antinori

Tuscan and international grape varieties are vinified for this Rosso Toscana IGT: Sangiovese, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The grapes are harvested individually, depending on the maturity of the grapes, the last ones to be harvested are Petit Verdot and Sangiovese. After destemming and gentle pressing, alcoholic fermentation and maceration of each grape follows at controlled temperature to favour the extraction of colourings, soft tannins in Cabernet, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot, and aromas in Syrah and Merlot. After malolactic fermentation in October and November, the wine is transferred to French, American and Hungarian barriques and aged for about a year. The cuvée then rests in the bottles for about half a year before the wine is sold.

Marchese Niccolò Antinori, the father of Piero Antinori, produced the red Villa Antinori for the first time in 1928. Piero Antinori developed the Villa Antinori further in 2001 when he became Toscana IGT, produced from the best grape selections exclusively from the Tuscan estates in his own possession. A historic Marchesi Antinori wine, the label's design has remained unchanged since 1928 and has only been slightly revised over time.
