More information about Barolo Riserva DOCG - Borgogno

The Barolo Riserva from Borgogno is a characterful, expressive and pure red wine from the Italian DOCG Baralo wine-growing region in Piedmont.

In the glass, this wine shimmers a dark ruby red with purple hues and a violet core. The striking bouquet reveals multi-layered aromas of ripe raspberries, juicy blackberries and ripe morello cherries - complemented by rose petals, tobacco, liquorice and leather. With an unimagined depth and voluminous body, this top Italian red wine skillfully takes over the palate. The powerful tannins are perfectly integrated and accompany the very long finish.

Vinification of the Borgogno Barolo Riserva

The grapes for this outstanding red wine grow in the Barolo vineyards: Cannubi, Liste and Fossati. The harvest takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October.

After the grapes arrive in the Giacomo Borgogno & Figli wine cellar, the must is first fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, followed by 50 days of maceration at a constant temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. Malolactic fermentation then takes place for 15 days at 22 degrees Celsius.

Once the fermentation process is complete, this red wine matures for 6 years in large Slavonian oak barrels (volume 4500 liters). Finally, this wine rounds off harmoniously in the bottle for a further year.

Wine recommendation for the Riserva Borgogno Barolo

This dry red wine from Italy is an unforgettable and exceptional pleasure on its own. Or serve this wine with saddle of venison in a dark sauce, game ragout with fresh tagliatelle, refined roast dishes and spicy mature cheeses.
