In the glass, La Tacca Del Lupo Palizzi Rosso from Altomonte displays a bright ruby-red color. On the nose, this Altomonte red wine reveals all kinds of currant, plum, blackberry and blueberry. As if that were not already impressive, aging in large wooden casks also adds blackcurrant.
Altomonte La Tacca Del Lupo Palizzi Rosso presents itself to the connoisseur as wonderfully dry. This red wine never appears coarse or lean, as one might expect from a wine. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety, fleshy and dense. The finish of this red wine from the Calabria wine region, more precisely from Bivongi DOC, ultimately captivates with a lovely aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints from the limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of La Tacca Del Lupo Palizzi Rosso by Altomonte
The basis for the balanced La Tacca Del Lupo Palizzi Rosso from Calabria is grapes of the Nerello Mascalese and Nero d'Avola varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Calabria. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into limestone soils. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There, they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the elegant La Tacca Del Lupo Palizzi Rosso is aged for several more months in oak barrels.
