Merlot Collio - Draga

The powerful Merlot Collio from the Draga estate flows into the glass with a dense, purple-red color. Poured into a red wine glass, this Old World red wine reveals wonderfully complex aromas of currant jelly and raspberry, rounded off by minerals.

The Draga Merlot Collio presents itself to the wine lover as pleasantly dry. This red wine never appears coarse or austere, as one might expect from a wine. Powerful and multi-layered, this velvety, silky and dense red wine unfolds on the palate. The finish of this red wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine-growing region ultimately convinces with a lovely aftertaste. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sandstone-dominated soils.

Vinification of Draga Merlot Collio

The basis for the powerful Merlot Collio from Friuli-Venezia Giulia is grapes from the Merlot variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into sandstone soils. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Enjoy this red wine from Italy ideally at a temperature of 15–18°C as an accompanying wine to braised chicken in red wine, ossobuco or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
