The Nipozzano Riserva Chianti Rufina DOCG from the Frescobaldi wine Castello di Nipozzano is presented in a clear, strong crimson. The intense and complex bouquet is dominated by floral and fruity aromas such as raspberry, blackberry and blueberry, followed by roasted and spicy notes such as nutmeg, coffee and tea.
On the palate, this Chianti Riserva by Frescobaldi is warm, soft and pleasantly spicy with beautifully integrated tannins. Fresh and elegant, this red wine from Tuscany glides into a long and sustainable finish.
Production of the Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva by Frescobaldi
This historic red wine from Castello di Nipozzano is produced mainly from Sangiovese and in small parts from other approved grape varieties. These include traditional grapes, such as Malvasia Nera and Colorino, but also Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The winter of 2014 was rather mild, which also caused an early shooting of the vines in mild spring. The particularly fresh summer with well-distributed rainfall slowed down the vines' growth well. At the end of July and in the first week of August Castello di Nipozzano recorded particularly high temperatures, which initiated the colour change of the grapes for the Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva. The temperature difference between day and night also favoured maturity. The very good weather in September guaranteed a balanced ripening, which produced healthy grapes of the best quality.
After mash fermentation with frequent undershooting of the dishes, the Riserva is aged for 24 months, partly in wooden barrels, partly in stainless steel tanks.
