More information about Papale Primitivo di Manduria DOP 1,5l Magnum - Varvaglione

With a slight tilt, the red wine glass reveals a charming shimmer at the edges. When you swirl the wine glass, you can perceive perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from Italy displays wonderfully expressive aromas of blueberry, mulberry, morello cherry and plum, rounded off by dark chocolate, black tea and oak, contributed by the barrel aging.

The Papale Primitivo di Manduria 1.5l Magnum from Varvaglione is a good choice for all wine lovers who prefer as little residual sugar in their wine as possible. At the same time, it never comes across as meager or brittle, as one would naturally expect from a wine in the upper price segment. Balanced and multi-layered, this dense and powerful red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, the Papale Primitivo di Manduria 1.5l Magnum reveals itself as wonderfully fresh and vibrant. The finish of this well age-worthy red wine from the Apulia wine-growing region, more precisely from the Primitivo di Manduria DOC, finally impresses with remarkable length.

Vinification of the Papale Primitivo di Manduria 1.5l Magnum from Varvaglione

The foundation for the balanced Papale Primitivo di Manduria 1.5l Magnum from Apulia is grapes from the Primitivo grape variety. The wine berries for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand at optimal ripeness. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 8 months in 900 l tonneaux of French oak.
