The Porphyry Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige DOC by Cantina Terlan is presented in a rich and impenetrable ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose, the bouquet of this Lagrein selection immediately surprises with abundance and multifaceted richness, the aromas range from liquorice nuances, to coffee beans, vanilla pod, cloves to black tea, framed by fruity scents with hints of black cherry and blueberries.
This harmonious red wine presents compact flavours, concentrated and complex, with juicy fruit, peppery spice and slightly sweet notes of bitter chocolate, carried by finely ground tannins, soft, round and full-bodied. The finish is long and pleasantly intense. A true treat for the palate!.
Vinification of the Porphyry Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige DOC by Cantina Terlan
This wonderfully dense Lagrein is made from the grapes from three selected vineyards, on which centuries-old vines and the very concentrated and extract-rich grapes deliver. The soils consist mainly of the typical South Tyrolean porphyry, which also gives the wine its name.
The grapes for this Lagrein are harvested and selected by hand. Harvesting and selection is done manually. The grapes are destemmed and then fermented slowly at a controlled temperature and with gentle movement of the must in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation and subsequent ageing over 18 months takes place in barriques, for which a third of new barrels are used. The Lagrein cuvée is formed three months before bottling
.
The Porphyry Lagrein Riserva can be stored for 6 to 12 years.
