More information about RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG - Tenuta Marciliano
The RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco, matured in barrel and hailing from the Umbrian winegrowing region, presents itself in the glass with a dense ruby red color. Held at a slight angle, the red wine glass reveals a charming garnet hue at its rim. When swirled, this red wine reveals great density and richness, which shows in the “church windows” on the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Tenuta Marciliano presents aromas of red currant, blackberries and plums, complemented by further fruity nuances. This Italian wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As one would expect from a wine in the icon-wine segment, this Italian, despite its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully velvety. Thanks to its pronounced fruit acidity, the RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco appears delightfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this matured wine from the Umbrian winegrowing region thrills with remarkable length. Once again, hints of red currant and blackberry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the clay and brown earth-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco from Tenuta Marciliano
The powerful RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco from Italy is a varietal wine, vinified from the Sagrantino grape. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Umbria. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of clay and brown earth. Naturally, the RC2 Sagrantino di Montefalco is also shaped by the climate and the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG winemaking style. In the truest sense of the word, this Italian can be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an exceptionally impressive way. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are brought quickly to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures follows. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on the fine lees before it is finally racked.
