More information about Sagrantino Montefalco - Napolini

The powerful Sagrantino Montefalco from Napolini pours into the glass with a dense ruby red color. Poured into a red wine glass, this Old World red reveals wonderfully complex aromas of raspberry, sour cherry, and blackberry, rounded off by additional fruity nuances contributed by barrel aging.

Napolini’s Sagrantino Montefalco delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this Italian enchants with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. Powerful and complex, this fleshy, dense, and velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. The finish of this red wine from the Umbrian wine-growing region ultimately captivates with a lovely aftertaste. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral hints from the limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of Napolini Sagrantino Montefalco

This powerful red wine from Italy is vinified from the Sagrantino grape variety. In Umbria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone soils. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery, where they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 24 months of aging in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for Napolini Sagrantino Montefalco

Enjoy this Italian red wine best at a tempered 15–18°C as a companion to ossobuco, vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, or fried calf’s liver with apples, onions, and balsamic vinegar sauce.
