More information about Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG - Poggio alla Sala

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva from Poggio alla Sala in Tuscany offers a bright, ruby red color in the glass. If you hold the glass at a slight angle, you can see a transition in color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from the Old World reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, black cherry, morello cherry and damson, rounded off with dark chocolate, black tea and gingerbread spice, which are contributed by the ageing in wooden barrels.

This Italian wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with just 1.5 grams of residual sugar. As you would expect from a premium and single-vineyard wine, this Italian wine naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. The texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully creamy and dense on the palate. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this very mature red wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region, more precisely from Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, ultimately delights with a remarkable finish.

Vinification of the Poggio alla Sala Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Sangiovese. Only the best grapes were used for this wonderfully balanced single-varietal wine from Poggio alla Sala. The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The grapes for the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva is matured for a further 24 months in large oak barrels.
