More information about Barbaresco DOCG - Pico Maccario

With the Pico Maccario Barbaresco, a first-class red wine finds its way into the glass. It presents a wonderfully dense, ruby-red color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals great density and richness, which shows in pronounced church windows on the glass. This varietal Italian wine displays wonderfully expressive notes of blackcurrants, sour cherries and roses in the glass. There are also hints of other fruits.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this Italian thrills with the finest balance. Flavor simply does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. Powerful and multi-layered, this fleshy red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this well-ageable red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region finally impresses with considerable length. Once again, hints of sour cherry and blackcurrant appear.

Vinification of the Barbaresco from Pico Maccario

This powerful red wine from Italy is vinified from the Nebbiolo grape variety. The Barbaresco is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. After the grape harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
