More information about Barolo DOCG - Pico Maccario

The powerful Barolo from the hand of Pico Maccario flows into the glass with a dense ruby red color. When swirled, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which shows in pronounced church windows on the glass wall. The first nose of the Barolo presents notes of roses and blackberries. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by more fruity-balsamic nuances.

The Pico Maccario Barolo presents itself pleasantly dry to the wine lover. This red wine never appears coarse or austere, but rather round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. The finish of this well-ageworthy red wine from the wine-growing region of Piedmont, more precisely from Barolo DOCG, finally delights with a remarkable length.

Vinification of Pico Maccario Barolo

This red wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Nebbiolo. Only the best harvested grapes were used for this exceptionally powerful varietal wine from Pico Maccario. The Barolo is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. After hand-picking, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Barolo can continue to harmonize for several months on the fine lees.

Food recommendation for the Barolo from Pico Maccario

Enjoy this red wine from Italy best at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as a companion to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, boiled fillet of veal with beans and tomatoes, or ossobuco.
