More information about Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Villa Poggio Salvi

With the Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino, a first-class red wine finds its way into the glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, ruby-red color. When held at a slight angle, a transition of the wine color towards garnet red can be seen at the rims of this barrel-aged wine. Swirling the glass reveals this red wine’s high viscosity, visible in the pronounced church windows on the glass wall. The nose of this red wine from Tuscany captivates with hints of violet, raspberry and red currant. Its distinctly fruit-driven character is precisely what makes this wine so special.

Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine drinker. This red wine never appears coarse or austere, as might be expected from a wine in the icon-wine segment. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an exceedingly velvety texture. The finish of this matured red wine from the wine-growing region of Tuscany, more precisely from Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, ultimately impresses with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the marl-dominated soils.

Vinification of Brunello di Montalcino by Villa Poggio Salvi

The foundation for this powerful Brunello di Montalcino from Italy is grapes from the Sangiovese variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tuscany. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into marl soils. Brunello di Montalcino is an Old World wine in the best sense of the term, as this Italian exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for Brunello di Montalcino are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of rough, low-selectivity machinery. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There, they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation in large wooden casks at controlled temperatures follows. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Brunello di Montalcino is aged for another 30 months in large Slavonian oak casks.

Food recommendation for Brunello di Montalcino by Villa Poggio Salvi
