More information about Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Poggio Landi
In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino from Poggio Landi offers a dense ruby red color. If you hold the glass at a slight angle, you can see a transition in color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. On the nose, this Poggio Landi red wine reveals all kinds of blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and mulberries. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in large wooden barrels adds further aromas such as black pepper and liquorice.
This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with just 1 gram of residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine of this class, this Italian wine naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. This dense red wine is full-bodied and multi-faceted on the palate. The Brunello di Montalcino's moderate fruit acidity flatters the palate with a velvety feel without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this storable red wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region impresses with its exceptional length. Once again, there are hints of blackcurrant and mulberry. Mineral notes from the clay-dominated soils are added in the finish.
Vinification of the Poggio Landi Brunello di Montalcino
The basis for the powerful Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany is grapes from the Sangiovese grape variety. In Tuscany, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay soils. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for 44 months in large French oak barrels. The ageing in oak barrels is followed by a long period of maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
Recommendation for Brunello di Montalcino from Poggio Landi
