On the finish, this youthful wine from the Friuli-Julian Venetia region ultimately impresses with good length. Once again, hints of physalis and papaya emerge. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the soils dominated by clay and marl join in.
Vinification of Attems Chardonnay Venezia Giulia
The foundation of the balanced Chardonnay Venezia Giulia from Friuli-Julian Venetia is grapes from the Chardonnay variety. The grapes grow close to the river in Friuli-Julian Venetia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils composed of sandstone, clay, and marl. Thanks to the balancing influence of the nearby river, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop greater aromatic depth. After harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here, they are sorted and gently crushed. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Chardonnay Venezia Giulia can harmonize further for several months on the fine lees. The maturation in oak barrels is followed by an impressive bottle aging, which makes this white wine even more complex.
