The powerful Costa Russi Barbaresco from Gaja glides into the glass with a dense ruby red color. The nose of this red wine from Piedmont impresses with nuances of blackberry, honeydew melon and sour cherry. If we trace the aromas further, juniper berries are added.
On the palate, the Costa Russi Barbaresco from Gaja starts off wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully melting and dense on the palate. On the finish, this very storable red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region finally impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and honeydew melon. In the finish, mineral notes from the clay and limestone-dominated soils are added.
Vinification of the Gaja Costa Russi Barbaresco
The basis for the powerful Costa Russi Barbaresco from Piedmont are grapes from the Nebbiolo grape variety. In Piedmont, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay, limestone and sandstone soils. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
