More information about Fontalloro Toscana IGT - Felsina
With the Felsina Fontalloro Toscana, a first-class red wine finds its way into the glass. It displays a wonderfully dense, ruby-red color. When the glass is swirled, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which shows in pronounced church windows on the rim of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Felsina reveals aromas of sour cherries, complemented by cedar wood, blueberry, and hazelnut. The Felsina Fontalloro Toscana delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from an icon wine in this segment, this Italian, despite its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require sugar. This dense red wine presents itself on the palate with power and complexity. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Tuscan winegrowing region ultimately impresses with considerable length. Once again, hints of sour cherry appear.
Vinification of the Fontalloro Toscana from Felsina
This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Sangiovese grape variety. Quite clearly, the Fontalloro Toscana is also influenced by the climatic and stylistic factors of Chianti. This Italian can in the best sense of the word be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. After hand-picking, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Fontalloro Toscana is aged for several more months in French oak barrels.
