More information about Levad Merlot - Nals Margreid

The Levad Merlot from Nals Margreid in Trentino-Alto Adige offers a dense, purple-red color in the glass. If you give it a little air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which can be seen in the strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Trentino-Alto Adige seduces with hints of blueberry, black cherry, plum and prune. If we explore the aromas further, we find air-dried ham, firewood and brown bread.

This red from Nals Margreid is the right choice for all wine connoisseurs who like as little residual sugar in their wine as possible. However, it is never sparse or brittle, as you would expect from a wine above the 5 euro mark. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety and dense texture. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Levad Merlot flatters with a velvety mouthfeel without lacking freshness. On the finish, this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of plum and damson.

Vinification of the Levad Merlot from Nals Margreid

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Merlot. Only flawless grape material was used for this wonderfully powerful single-varietal wine from Nals Margreid. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Trentino-Alto Adige. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sedimentary and weathered rock. The Levad Merlot is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The grapes for the Levad Merlot are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After manual harvesting, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Levad Merlot is matured for a few months in barriques and large oak barrels.

Dining recommendations for the Levad Merlot from Nals Margreid

This Italian wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is the perfect accompaniment to lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs, duck breast with sugar snap peas or stuffed peppers.
