The Gamay from La Source from the Aosta Valley presents a bright, bright red color in a swirl glass. In the glass, this La Source red wine offers aromas of raspberries and strawberries, complemented by other fruity nuances. The La Source Gamay appears wonderfully dry to the wine drinker. This red wine never comes across as coarse or meager, but rather round and supple. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety. The finish of this red wine from the Aosta Valley wine region ultimately impresses with an extraordinary aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the sand-dominated soils.
Vinification of La Source Gamay
The basis for the balanced Gamay from Italy are grapes of the Gamay variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Aosta Valley. The vines here dig their roots deep into sandy soils. The grape berries for this Italian red wine are harvested exclusively by hand at the point of optimal ripeness. After manual harvest, the grapes are immediately transported to the winery. Here, they are sorted and gently crushed. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the Gamay can continue to harmonize for a few months on the fine lees.
Food pairing recommendation for La Source Gamay
This Italian should be enjoyed best at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as a companion to Ossobuco, braised chicken in red wine, or Boeuf Bourguignon.
