More information about Muffato della Sala Umbria IGT 0,5 l - Castello della Sala

The Castello della Sala Muffato della Sala Umbria is a first-class dessert wine. It reveals a wonderfully brilliant, light yellow color. This wine also shows reflections at its core. After the first swirl, this dessert wine is characterized by a fascinating brilliance that makes it dance nimbly in the glass. The first nose of the Muffato della Sala Umbria reveals apricots, lime and gooseberries. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing and even more fruity, balsamic nuances.

This melting, dense, silky and creamy dessert wine is light-footed and multi-layered on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the Umbria wine-growing region, which ages well, finally impresses with its exceptional length. There are again hints of acacia and orange blossom. Mineral notes from the marl and sand-dominated soils are added to the finish.

Vinification of Castello della Sala Muffato della Sala Umbria

This elegant dessert wine from Italy is made from Gewürztraminer, Greco Bianco, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Umbria. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone and marl. The Muffato della Sala Umbria is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The grapes for the Muffato della Sala Umbria are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.

Dining recommendation for the Muffato della Sala Umbria from Castello della Sala

Ideally, enjoy this dessert wine from Italy moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to red onions stuffed with couscous and apricots, baked sheep's cheese parcels or spicy curry with lamb.
