The Perricone Guarnaccio Sicilia DOC from Tenuta Regaleali by Tasca d'Almerita is a red wine made from the old indigenous Sicilian grape variety Perricone, which has always been known as Guarnaccio at the Tasca winery.
The Perricone Guarnaccio has an intense ruby red colour in the glass. Spicy and fruity aromas unfold on the nose, with notes of wild berries and undergrowth, geranium flowers and balsamic hints of eucalyptus. On the palate, this Sicilian red wine shows structure, distinctive tannins, complexity and vivacity on the palate, rich in polyphenols and spicy aromas. The finish is long and persistent. A Sicilian that offers plenty of drinking pleasure.
Vinification of the Perricone Guarnaccio from Tenuta Regaleali
The Perricone grapes have been growing on a small area in the historic San Lucio vineyard at the Regaleali winery since 1954. Selection has made it possible to preserve this autochthonous grape variety from western Sicily, which used to be very abundant.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are fermented for about 13 days at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, after malolactic fermentation the wine is aged in classic French oak barriques from Allier and Troncais in second and third passage for a period of 12 months.
