Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo DOC - Gaja

The powerful Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo from the pen of Gaja comes into the glass with a dense ruby red color. If you hold the glass at a slight angle, you can see the color transition towards garnet red at the edges. If you give it a little air by swirling it, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which can be seen in the clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of the Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo reveals nuances of blackcurrants, mulberries and blueberries. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by even more fruity, balsamic nuances.

The Gaja Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo is pleasantly dry for wine lovers. This red wine is never coarse or austere, as you would expect from an iconic wine segment. This dense red wine is full-bodied and multi-layered on the palate. On the finish, this storable red wine from the Piedmont wine-growing region impresses with its good length. Once again, there are hints of blackcurrant and blueberry. In the finish, mineral notes from the clay and limestone-dominated soils are added.

Vinification of the Gaja Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Nebbiolo. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally powerful single-varietal wine from Gaja. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Piedmont. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay and limestone soils. The Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo is also clearly determined by the climate and the Langhe DOC winegrowing style. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word and is extraordinarily impressive. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place at controlled temperatures.

Dining recommendations for the Sperss Langhe Nebbiolo from Gaja

This Italian red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It goes perfectly with Jamaican chicken legs

with pineapple salad, spaghetti with caper and tomato sauce or onion tart with thyme.
