The Vino Nobile by Salcheto from the Italian DOCG Nobile di Montepulciano wine-growing region in Tuscany is a pure, complex and very elegant red wine.

In the glass, this wine shimmers a sparkling garnet red with cherry-red highlights. The expressive bouquet reveals intense aromas of black cherries, ripe plums and blackcurrants - accompanied by spices and a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, this Italian red wine surprises with a wonderful vitality that harmonizes perfectly with the soft, juicy texture. The aromas of the nose are also reflected and are accompanied by fine-grained tannins. The finish has a pleasant length and hints of stewed plums.

Vinification of the Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

The Prugnolo Gentile grape variety - also known as Sangiovese - grows in vineyards in Montepulciano. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and immediately taken to the Salcheto wine cellar. There, the mash is first fermented in stainless steel tanks. Once the fermentation process is complete, 70% of this red wine is matured in Botte (large wooden barrels) and 30% in tonneaux for 18 months. Finally, this wine rounds off harmoniously in the bottle for another 6 months before the Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano leaves the winery.

This dry red wine from Italy is an excellent accompaniment to medium-roasted fillet of beef with crispy beans and potato and celery mash or oven-fresh rack of lamb with thyme sauce.
