More information about Intruso Oak Aged Montsant DO - Juan Gil
Juan Gil's powerful Intruso Montsant Oak Aged enters the glass with a dense purple color. This Spanish cuvée flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of mulberries, blueberries, black currants and blackberries. These are joined by hints of smoked meat, oak and brown bread.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 5.8 grams of residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the upper price range, this Spanish wine naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Intruso Montsant Oak Aged flatters with a pleasing feel on the palate, without lacking juicy liveliness. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region of Catalonia, more precisely from Montsant DO, which is capable of aging, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by slate and clay.
Vinification of the Juan Gil Intruso Montsant Oak Aged
The basis for the powerful Intruso Montsant Oak Aged from Catalonia are grapes from the Carignan, Garnacha and Syrah varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Catalonia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of clay and shale. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by a few months of aging on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn off.
