Vinification of the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling by Günther Steinmetz
The elegant Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling from Germany is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Riesling grape variety. In the Moselle region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. What is unusual about the origin of this white wine from Günther Steinmetz is the fact that the grapes in Piesport grow on stone terraces. This traditional way of vineyard management is unfortunately very costly and time-consuming and therefore rarely found anymore. The grapes for this white wine from Germany, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand . After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barrels.
